Road Trip: Part Two

On the South Dakota leg of our journey, we saw Mount Rushmore, spent time with some of my in-laws, poked around in an old mine, and kind of crashed a birthday party. There wasn't time to see everything we were interested in, but that just means we'll need to head back for a longer trip eventually.

As we started the journey back towards home, we drove through the Badlands, had a surprisingly good lunch at a bump-in-the-road diner, and found a scenic route that seemed just as fast as the highway (and took us past the place where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived in South Dakota). Even our airport day proved interesting when we added a quick swing by the Fargo Visitors Center to check out the infamous wood chipper from that Coen brothers movie.

It's been nice to be back home with my cat and my bed and my books, but I was surprised at how many different things we were able to see and do over the course of the week.
