try breaking in tonight

Last week, I stumbled on a commercial for Breaking In. I'm not usually interested in comedy shows (apart from Community, which is awesome), but the idea of weekly heist plots combined with my teen crush, Christian Slater, made me decide to give it a shot.

The first episode I watched, which turned out to be the fourth one, started out with a one-man Star Wars fan film and followed that up with a nod to one of my favorite They Might Be Giants songs. As soon as we finished it, my husband and I caught up on the rest of the series.

Breaking In is about a security company that's frequently hired to test the systems of businesses or museums. Christian Slater's character, Oz, is the surveillance-happy boss. The cast also includes Bret Harrison (from Reaper), Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville's Lex Luthor), and Trevor Moore (one of IFC's The Whitest Kids U'Know). I'm declaring it required viewing for geeks.

It's on Wednesdays at 9:30 (EST). All of the episodes are available on Hulu for now, but check the pilot out soon, because most Fox shows only have the five most recent episodes available for free streaming.

  1. Looks like this one has been cancelled already. Something to add to my list of disappointments from Fox, along with doing terrible things to Human Target and then axing it anyway.
