prose and cons

When I'm driving myself crazy trying to make a tough call for my story, I break out that old decision-making standby, the pros and cons list. It's a tactic I hardly ever use in real life, but it's helpful to make me really think about the opportunities and consequences my characters will face based on what I inflict on them next.

Lately I've been into this pretty "pros and cons" template from Amanda Hawkins. In addition to having plenty of space to list the things that play into a choice, it encourages me to score them by importance, which is useful. The original template is letter sized, but I shrank it down, printed it two to a page, and trimmed it so it would easily fit in my notebook.

I'm a big fan of using templates to plan and record book stuff, so I'm always on the lookout for existing ones that I can repurpose for writing.
